Teardrop Banners
The flag that gets you seen from the other side of a carpark.
Dye-sublimation printed onto knitted polyester, on a fibreglass pole, with a base to suit wherever it's going. Five sizes from 1.83m to 4.65m.
Made in Australia, on the same artwork and the same colours as your uniforms and your print - which is the part that's hard to fix once a flag is standing next to a stand full of polos.
Timing is confirmed with your quote - tell us your date and we'll say straight away whether it's achievable. Collect from Fyshwick, or we ship anywhere in Australia.
Overall height, pole and base included.
Double sided is two blockout banners sewn back to back, so the artwork reads correctly from both sides. Single side prints one face and shows a mirror image with less vibrancy on the other - fine for a logo, awkward for text.
Spikes are for grass, weighted bases for hard surfaces. Every base has an enclosed ball bearing spindle so the flag swivels with the wind. Not sure? Leave it and tell us where it's going.
The fabric pocket the pole slides into. Most people match it to the artwork background.
Optional. Skip it and we'll ask later. Setup sizes and file requirements are further down this page.
Quoted to your spec, quantity and deadline.
Choosing a size
How big, and where it goes
Height is the whole point of a teardrop. What changes with it is how far away it works and how much wind it has to survive.
Extra Small
1830mm overall. Sits below eye level on most stands.
SuitsIndoor use, market stalls, tight spaces and low ceilings.
Small
2300mm overall. The most common size.
SuitsShopfronts, open days, sporting sidelines. A safe default.
Medium
2700mm overall. Clears a crowd comfortably.
SuitsEvents where people are standing between you and the flag.
Large / Jumbo
3700mm and 4650mm overall. Visible across a carpark.
SuitsRoadside, showgrounds, anywhere you're competing for attention. Both want a heavier base and calmer weather.
Every size takes the full base range, and the flag itself can be replaced later without buying another pole or base - which is usually the answer when an outdoor flag fades. Not sure? Tell us where it's going and how far away people will be standing.
Artwork requirements
Large format is read from metres away, so it needs far less resolution than print does - but it is less forgiving about scale and bleed.
- Print-ready PDF with no trim, crop or registration marks on it
- Set up at 100% scale full size, with the bleed set out on the template. We'll send you the right artwork template for your chosen specs once the quote is approved
- Vector art if you have it an EPS, AI or PDF can be scaled up to 4.65m and the edges stay sharp. A photo or a flattened logo can't
- Any bitmap images at 130 dpi or higher at full size lower than that and the print goes visibly rough
- Fonts converted to outlines as paths or curves, so nothing substitutes on our end
- Every image and element embedded anything linked rather than embedded arrives missing
- CMYK, not RGB and if brand colour is critical, send Pantone references from the PANTONE+ Solid Coated library
We'll send you the template
Once you've chosen your specs and approved the quote, our team sends the correct artwork template for exactly that product and size, with the bleed and safe area already marked. Nothing to hunt for, and no guessing which one applies.
Not sure? Send what you have. Our in-house design team checks every file before it goes to press and we'll tell you if something needs fixing before it costs you a reprint. Artwork preparation is quoted separately, and you'll never get a surprise line item.
Common questions
What's the difference between single and double sided?
Single sided prints the artwork on one side of the fabric. It bleeds through to the back, so the reverse shows a mirror image with less vibrancy - fine for a logo or a shape, awkward for text. Double sided is two banners printed on blockout fabric and sewn back to back, so the artwork reads correctly from both sides. If there are words on it and people will approach from either direction, choose double sided.
What fabric are they printed on?
Knitted polyester, printed by dye sublimation so the ink becomes part of the fabric rather than sitting on top of it. Single sided banners use a 120gsm fabric. Double sided banners use a 145gsm blockout fabric, two of them sewn back to back, which is what stops the two prints showing through each other.
What artwork do you need?
A print-ready PDF at 100% scale with no trim, crop or registration marks, CMYK rather than RGB, fonts converted to outlines and every image embedded. Vector art scales to any size and stays sharp, so send it if you have it. Any bitmap images need to be 130 dpi or higher at full size - far less than a business card needs, because a flag is read from metres away. We'll send you the right artwork template for your chosen specs once the quote is approved.
How long will the print last outside?
Indoors, out of sun and weather, indefinitely. Outdoors the print fades with UV exposure. Expect 6 to 12 months before noticeable fading, and as little as 3 months in harsh conditions. That's the dye sublimation process rather than the supplier - every polyester flag in Australia is printed the same way and fades on the same curve. Replacement flags are the usual answer: the pole and base stay, the flag gets swapped.
Which base do I need?
It depends on the surface. A ground spike is for grass or soil. A cross base with a water bag, or a heavy duty square base, is for hard surfaces. There are also car, wall and gazebo mounts. Every base includes an enclosed ball bearing spindle so the flag swivels with the wind rather than fighting it. Tell us where it's going and we'll match the base to it.
What is the sleeve colour?
The sleeve is the fabric pocket the pole slides into, in black or white. Most people match it to the artwork - white background, white sleeve. If the artwork is neither, it's personal preference.
How long do they take?
Production runs from artwork approval, and for small quantities it can be as little as 24 hours. It steps up with the run: past roughly 40 small or medium banners, or 30 large or jumbo, it moves to two working days, and longer again from there. Freight to Canberra sits on top of production, so tell us the date you need them in hand and we'll confirm whether it's achievable before you commit.
How do I stop it creasing?
Steam it. A warm iron works too, but use an ironing cloth so the iron never touches the fabric directly. Tensioning the flag properly on the pole matters as much as the creases - we send the tensioning guide with every order.
Anything else
Something outside the standard spec?
Teardrops are one shape in a range. If this isn't quite the thing, one of these usually is.
A different flag shape
Bow banners, rectangle flags and feather flags all run on the same fabric and the same base range, and suit different spaces. Tell us the site and we'll say which shape fits it.
Replacing a flag you already have
If the pole and base are fine and only the print has faded, you don't need another kit. Tell us the size and we'll quote the flag on its own.
A whole stand, not one flag
Flags, a pull-up banner, a media wall, table covers and the uniforms the team is wearing in front of them. Quoted together they're colour-matched as one job, which is the part that's hard to fix afterwards.
Tell us the date. We'll tell you how it's possible.
Most quotes come back the same business day. Give us quantity, branding and deadline, and we can usually map out a way to get there.
