Brochures
Folded, full colour, and built to carry more than one idea.
A brochure is a flyer with a fold in it, and that fold changes the job. It gives you panels instead of a page, which means an order to what someone reads rather than everything competing at once.
Matte, gloss or synthetic stock, in the folds we run as standard. Synthetic is waterproof and antibacterial, which is worth knowing for anything living somewhere damp.
Synthetic is waterproof and antibacterial. Uncoated takes a pen or a stamp; matte and gloss won't. There's a guide to all of them further down this page.
Coated stock, low sheen. Easier to read under lights than gloss, and it won't hold biro.
The size is the finished, folded piece. The sheet it comes off is in brackets.
Optional. Skip it and we'll ask later. Setup sizes and file requirements are further down this page.
Quoted to your spec, quantity and deadline.
Choosing a stock
Which stock, and why it matters
Three stocks, and the choice matters more than the weight. What changes is how the brochure feels in the hand and how the fold sits.
Matte
Coated, low sheen. 128 to 250gsm.
SuitsText-heavy brochures, service lists, anything read at length.
Gloss
Coated, with a sheen. 128 to 250gsm.
SuitsImage-led work where the photography is doing the selling.
Synthetic
Waterproof and antibacterial. 190, 261 or 368gsm.
SuitsBrochures living somewhere damp or handled constantly, like a pool, a gym or a worksite.
Every stock above runs to the same turnaround, so a heavier or tougher one never costs you time. Within a stock, the weight changes how substantial it feels rather than how it prints. Still deciding? Tell us what it's for and where it's going and we'll say which way to go.
Turnaround & delivery
Every one of these runs from artwork approval, not from when you place the order.
- Priority

Collect from 2/137 Canberra Avenue, Fyshwick, Mon to Fri 8:00am–4:30pm. Or we ship anywhere in Australia, with freight quoted alongside your order.
Artwork requirements
Most production delays start here. Two minutes of reading saves a week.
| Size | Trim | Set up at (3mm bleed) | Keep content inside |
|---|---|---|---|
| A4 Bifold | 297 x 420mm | 303 x 426mm | 287 x 410mm |
| A5 Bifold | 210 x 297mm | 216 x 303mm | 200 x 287mm |
| DL Trifold | 210 x 297mm | 216 x 303mm | 200 x 287mm |
| DL Z-fold | 210 x 297mm | 216 x 303mm | 200 x 287mm |
Those are flat sheet sizes. Set your artwork up flat, at the trim size above, and we fold it after printing. Don't add your own fold marks: panel widths on a trifold aren't equal thirds, because the panel that tucks inside has to be slightly narrower, and how much narrower depends on the stock. We confirm the exact panel widths on your proof.
- Print-ready PDF with 3mm bleed on every edge
- Fonts outlined or embedded so they don't substitute on our end
- CMYK, not RGB screen colours don't survive the press unchanged
- 300 dpi minimum at final size sharp at 5cm isn't sharp at 50cm
- Keep important content 5mm inside the trim so nothing critical gets cut
- Send Pantone references if brand colour is critical, and we'll get as close as CMYK allows
We'll send you the template
Once you've chosen your specs and approved the quote, our team sends the correct artwork template for exactly that product and size, with the bleed and safe area already marked. Nothing to hunt for, and no guessing which one applies.
Not sure? Send what you have. Our in-house design team checks every file before it goes to press and we'll tell you if something needs fixing before it costs you a reprint. Artwork preparation is quoted separately, and you'll never get a surprise line item.
Common questions
What's the difference between a flyer and a brochure?
The fold. A flyer is a flat sheet. Anything folded is a brochure, and it's laid out differently from the start, because the fold decides what someone sees first and what they have to open it to find.
What sizes and folds do you offer?
A4 Bifold (A3 folded in half to A4), A5 Bifold (A4 folded in half to A5), DL Trifold (A4 folded to DL) and DL Z-fold (A4 folded to DL). The size is the finished piece; the sheet it comes off is in brackets. If you need a fold outside those, tell us the finished size and how many panels and we'll quote it.
How should I set up the artwork?
Flat, at the full sheet size, with 3mm bleed. Don't add your own fold marks. Panel widths on a trifold aren't equal thirds, because the panel that tucks inside has to be slightly narrower, and how much narrower depends on the stock. We confirm the exact panel widths on your proof.
Which stock weight should I choose?
Pick the stock first, because it sets which weights exist. Matte and gloss run 128, 148, 170 or 250gsm - 128 folds most cleanly and suits high-volume mailers, 170 holds its shape on a brochure stand, and 250 is card rather than paper and needs scoring before it folds, which we handle. Synthetic runs 190, 261 or 368gsm and is waterproof and antibacterial. Every stock runs to the same turnaround.
Matte or gloss?
Gloss lifts photography and colour. Matte is easier to read under lights. Both come on every weight.
Can I have an uncoated brochure?
We offer uncoated on flyers and business cards, but not as a standard brochure option, because uncoated behaves differently through a fold. If uncoated is important to the piece, tell us when you ask and we'll talk it through before you commit to anything.
How long do brochures take?
Priority is 3–5 business days and standard is 5–7, both from artwork approval. Those are typical rather than a ceiling, and we confirm the date before you commit. If you are working to a deadline, tell us early and we will tell you straight away whether it is achievable.
Anything else
Something outside the standard spec?
The sizes above are the folds we run as standard. Where it gets interesting is everything that isn't on this page.
A fold that isn't listed
Gate folds, concertinas with more than three panels, French folds. Tell us the finished size and how many panels and we'll tell you what's achievable.
More than one folded sheet
Once it's several sheets bound together it's a booklet rather than a brochure, which is a different job with a different set of decisions. Worth a conversation rather than a form.
A stock that isn't listed
The stocks above are what we run as standard. Recycled, textured and heavier boards are all possible - tell us what you're after and we'll tell you what it changes.
Tell us the date. We'll tell you how it's possible.
Most quotes come back the same business day. Give us quantity, branding and deadline, and we can usually map out a way to get there.
